World Theater Day was established in 1961 by the International Theater Institute. "theatres day", which was put forward by Arvi Kivimaa, the then ITI president, at the 9th ITI Conference held first in Helsinki and then in Vienna; The idea was implemented with the support from Scandinavian countries. After its acceptance, every year on March 27, which was the opening day of the Theater of Nations in Paris in 1962, it began to be celebrated with various events in ITI's centers around the world, which now number 100.
