Seljuk Motifs
Seljuk art is an art that emerges from the fusion of different languages and perspectives. The reason for this is that the Seljuks lived in a very diverse geography.
Being in a region like Anatolia, where different cultures merge, brought the Seljuks to a unique artistic synthesis. We see that the development of the Seljuk style was intense in some places, less intense in others, sometimes with unique features, sometimes with very local features, but generally by mixing different tendencies and techniques, and over time, it gave Turkish-Anatolian art an identity that distinguishes it from other Islamic regions.
It is natural that the art of every country is a reflection of its culture. The Seljuks, who are considered one of the most culturally deep-rooted Turkish states in Anatolia, created a great art world that gave Anatolia a Turkish face. In Anatolian Seljuk mosques, madrasahs, tombs, palaces and caravanserais; The classical Anatolian Seljuk style, seen especially on the portal, mihrab, columns, capitals and arches, is seen with its unique features with different patterns and motifs. One of the most important of these is the frequent use of geometric motifs that make up the decoration. These models have virtually integrated with Anatolian Seljuk art and gained an identity.
